Wing turrets and Fisher's doubts about superfiring

The Invincibles' wing turrets raise a practical question about gun layout and Fisher's reluctance to adopt superfiring mounts.

Notes

Wing turrets placed the Invincibles' heavy guns off the centreline, with consequences for stability and maintenance. Superfiring offered another arrangement, with a raised turret able to fire over a lower one. The criticism is that examples were already afloat and the naval architects and engineers considered the arrangement viable. Fisher remained unconvinced, so the class kept the wing mounts.
