Indomitable was already bound for the theater and joined the Eastern Fleet in January 1942 after repairs. She was not committed to a competing operation that must be erased to make the scenario work. Avoiding the grounding therefore changes one arrival date without cancelling another historical mission. Her modified design sat between the original Illustrious class and the later Implacable class, giving the alternate force a modern armored carrier.
