Converting Indefatigable did not mean that all 64s had become useless. The Royal Navy still employed and refitted the type heavily, while Indefatigable offered an unusually sound, freshwater-stored Slade hull for an experimental razee conversion. She was one of only three 64s cut down to 44-gun frigates in 1794 and the only member of that group based on a Slade design. Her retained 24-pounder main battery and added quarterdeck and forecastle weapons gave the frigate exceptional firepower, showing why hull selection mattered.

Indefatigable's conversion from a freshwater-stored 64 into a heavily armed 44-gun razee shows why the Royal Navy selected strong hulls carefully for this experimental role.
