Why warning of Inchon did not give Kim Il Sung a good option

Acting on warnings of the Inchon landing required a dangerous retreat from the southern front that might neither arrive in time nor preserve the North Korean army.

Question

Why did Kim Il Sung ignore warnings of the Inchon landing, and what could he have done instead?

Short answer

He had no good alternative: withdrawing toward Seoul and Inchon risked a disastrous fighting retreat and probably would not have arrived before the landing.

Notes

Soviet and Chinese warnings did not create an easy countermove for Kim Il Sung. To defend Seoul and Inchon, the Korean People's Army would have had to disengage from United Nations forces and begin a long withdrawal from the south. A rapid retreat while in contact could turn into a rout, yet a careful retreat would not reach the landing area in time. The decision was therefore a genuine dilemma between remaining exposed to an amphibious landing and risking the destruction of the field army during withdrawal.
