This scenario has fewer fixed historical guideposts than many treaty counterfactuals. Preventing the February Revolution from succeeding changes the political and military setting before the familiar interwar order has formed. The exercise therefore stops in the early 1920s, because each additional assumption compounds the uncertainty. Even a later general war might begin earlier, involve different alignments, and bear little resemblance to the Second World War. The opening sets a responsible prediction horizon for the alternate history.
