Why IKEA appears in a Swedish destroyer history

IKEA was founded in Småland in July 1943, and its name combines Ingvar Kamprad's initials with the farm and village where he grew up.

Notes

IKEA was founded on 20 July 1943, during the Second World War. Founder Ingvar Kamprad grew up at the family farm Elmtaryd in Agunnaryd, Småland. The company name combines his initials with the first letters of Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd. That wartime date explains the playful IKEA reference in a history of the Swedish Navy's destroyers.
