Expensive torpedoes reveal unusually equipped raiders

Damage to the freighter indicates that a torpedo forced it out of hyperspace. In this setting, those weapons are difficult to aim, expensive, and bulky, making them unusual equipment for ordinary pirates. Their specialized function is to collapse a hyperspace bubble so that other weapons can attack the vessel in normal space. Missiles then reduce the shields before plasma guns penetrate the hull. The raiders' possession of such equipment gives Stingray's officers another reason to question whom they have encountered.
