What is the Hutchinson's Pictorial History of the War series and where can it be found?
Short answerIt is a weekly illustrated war magazine; Second World War issues can often be bought in bulk, while the First World War run is harder to find.
NotesHutchinson's Pictorial History of the War was a weekly illustrated publication produced during both world wars. The collection shown was assembled by buying surviving issues in bulk and arranging them chronologically. The First World War series is much harder to obtain than the Second World War magazines. The wartime photographs in the 1940s issues are now out of copyright, which makes the series a practical visual source for historians as well as a collectible publication.
