Fewer hulls can mean more ships available

A fictional redesign illustrates how crew endurance and time in dock can outweigh the nominal number of ships purchased.

Notes

Bonnie's redesign in House of Adamant trades a larger, more habitable ship for a smaller total order. The example compares two-thirds as many hulls with a previous design that spends roughly 40 percent of its time in dock to relieve crew strain. Better availability can therefore offset the reduction in fleet size. The figures belong to the fictional illustration, while the procurement question concerns the usable force a design actually produces.
