Land-based missiles could strengthen Britain's homeland air defence

The homeland-defence discussion proposes land-based Aster missiles and raises Aquila as a future option alongside fighter aircraft.

Notes

The proposed approach to Britain's homeland defence combines long-range ground-based missiles with fighter aircraft. A land-based Aster system is proposed as one option because it would share the missile family used by Type 45 destroyers. Aquila is also raised as a possible future option after its name is recalled. These are suggested acquisitions, with no claim that either has been ordered in the plan.
