Traffic jams and ambush sites without escape routes

A force willing to fight without an escape route could use narrow roads and deliberately blocked columns to impose longer delays.

Notes

Regular Home Guard units are imagined deliberately causing traffic jams and then attacking the immobilized columns. A comparison with attacks in Ukraine illustrates the method: stop the front and rear vehicles, then engage those caught between them. Normal ambush planning has to provide an escape route for the attackers. Defenders whose priority is maximum delay, even at the cost of survival, could choose positions without that route. Steep and confined roads could therefore become viable sites for very close attacks.
