HMS Walker and the V and W class

HMS Walker entered service in February 1918 with four 4-inch guns and two triple torpedo mountings, then returned from interwar reserve for World War II.

Notes

HMS Walker was launched in November 1917 and commissioned in February 1918. She was one of 21 ships in the W subgroup of the V and W class, a destroyer family built near the end of World War I. Her original battery combined four 4-inch guns, a 3-inch anti-aircraft gun, two 40 mm pom-poms, and two triple torpedo-tube mountings. She spent a few years out of commission in the 1930s before returning for World War II. Decommissioned in 1945, she was sold for scrap in March 1946, nearly 29 years after her launch.
