HMS Urge was a successful U-class submarine lost to a mine in April 1942. Her torpedo attack damaged Vittorio Veneto and nearly hit Littorio with the same salvo. With four bow torpedo tubes, she had the chance to damage two Italian battleships in a single spread. The imagined loss of both battleships illustrates the disproportionate effect one submarine could have on a battle fleet.
