After joining the 15th Cruiser Squadron, Uganda used her six-inch guns during Operation Husky and the advance across Sicily. With Orion, Mauritius, and the monitor Erebus, she chiefly supported the British Eighth Army. On 10 August she and the Dutch gunboat Flores bombarded positions north of Riposto. Two days later Uganda worked with the monitor Roberts and the Dutch gunboats Scarab and Soemba against targets on Sicily's east coast. These missions paired a cruiser with monitors and Dutch gunboats as operations moved along the coast.
