Chapter · 42:58-46:27

HMS Trident across three theaters

Trident damaged Prinz Eugen, served in northern and Mediterranean waters, then used torpedoes and her deck gun in the Far East.

Notes

Trident's career demonstrates how a generally capable T-class boat could move among very different theaters and targets. In northern waters she sank German shipping, exchanged attacks with U-boats, and fired seven torpedoes at Prinz Eugen. One hit jammed the cruiser's rudder and damaged her engines, raising the possibility that the full ten-weapon spread might have achieved more. The boat later used torpedoes against submarines and attacked sailing vessels in the Mediterranean. Reassigned east, she attacked the Japanese training cruiser Kashii and destroyed landing craft with her four-inch gun, showing utility well beyond the original capital-ship ambush mission.
