HMS Rutherford's speed and escort endurance

Rutherford displaced roughly 1,400 tons and measured about 93 metres long and 11 metres across, with a draught of roughly 2.5 to 2.7 metres. Her machinery used two Foster Wheeler express D-type water-tube boilers and developed about 13,500 shaft horsepower, enough for a top speed of roughly 24 knots. That speed was sufficient for her role even though she was not especially fast. Her range was about 5,500 nautical miles at 15 knots.
