The rapid disposal of the surviving Tribals leads to a preservation case for HMS Nubian. In this comparison, she ranks just behind HMS Warspite in formal battle honours, with a caution that destroyers and battleships did not receive honours in quite the same way. Counting the major firefights in which Nubian actually participated might produce an even stronger record than the official tally suggests. The question is which forms of naval service later generations choose to remember.
