Nubian rejoined the Mediterranean and the 14th Destroyer Flotilla in November 1942, eighteen months after the damage off Crete. She fought the Lupo convoy on 2 December and operated off Tripoli with HMS Jervis on 20 and 21 December. In 1943 she supported the landings in Sicily and Salerno before returning to Britain for Arctic convoy duty. She likely sank at least one U-boat during a two- or three-day hunt against an experienced commander. She also tracked at least eleven other U-boats and may have assisted in as many as six further sinkings. Matching combat reports to confirmed losses remains difficult because a submarine might escape damaged or be lost later for another cause.

Convoy escort and uncertain U-boat claims
After Mediterranean operations, Nubian's Arctic convoy work shows both the persistence of anti-submarine escort and the uncertainty of wartime sinking claims.
