HMS Nubian's exceptional war record

Nubian's battle honours show the demanding escort, screening, and combat service behind the record.

Notes

Nubian earned honours for Norway in 1940 and 1944, Calabria, Mediterranean operations, Libya, Cape Matapan, Sfax, Greece, Crete, the Malta convoys, Sicily, Salerno, the Arctic, and Burma. Destroyer honours could be harder to assign than those for capital ships because their work often consisted of smaller engagements and repeated escort or screening duties. Recognition might come immediately, years later, or never. Her total equalled those of HMS Orion and HMS Jervis. Only HMS Warspite held more after serving in both world wars. Nubian had the most honours among the heavily decorated Tribal-class destroyers, and repeated modification kept her in frontline service across several theatres.
