The proposed Leopard is sketched as a Tiger-derived ship with 15-inch guns rather than as a smaller Hood. Small-tube boilers could push the design toward 30 knots or more. Keeping the same steam pressure and power would limit the gain, while using the available machinery space for additional boilers could raise speed further. Machinery choice sets how far the Tiger lineage can be pushed toward a faster and more heavily armed battlecruiser.
