Kimberley evacuated British nationals from British Somaliland and spent substantial time on convoy and other duties in the Red Sea. In November 1940 she escorted troopships from Aden, repeating the troop-support work she had performed off Norway. She later joined Griffin, Defender and Kingston in screening HMS Formidable during the carrier's passage to Suda Bay. The account associates that movement with the bombardment of Tripoli, tentatively dated to April 1941. Further duties included the evacuation of Crete and convoys to Malta.
