At Narvik, Kimberley received the task of towing HMS Cossack out of the harbour. Cossack had rammed through a blockship to bring her forward guns and pom-poms to bear on German ships and troops inside. Kimberley helped recover her after the fighting. Kimberley also supplied a boarding party to disable German seaplanes. The party lost crewmen while fighting German soldiers, although the operation is judged largely successful.
