Kent paid off in 1945 and remained in reserve before being used as a target. She became the first County-class cruiser struck from the Naval List. Allocated through BISCO to the breakers at Troon, she was sold for scrap in January 1948. The sequence closes a career that began with her 1924 laying down and carried her through China Station service, wartime damage, Arctic convoys, and operations off Norway.
