Temporary repairs at Alexandria allowed Kent to reach Devonport, where reconstruction continued until September 1941. The work added Types 281, 284, and 285 radar sets together with 20 mm Oerlikon guns. The ship then spent several months working up so the crew could integrate unfamiliar equipment and operate as one system. Modernisation required training and organisation as well as new hardware.
