HMS Holderness on the East Coast convoys

Holderness spent the war protecting East Coast convoys against mines, submarines, aircraft, and E-boats - dangerous work often described too narrowly as home service.

Notes

Holderness served with the 21st Destroyer Flotilla on East Coast convoy duties throughout the war. German E-boats, torpedo bombers, mines, submarines, and aircraft made this a dangerous assignment. In February 1942 her group sank an E-boat, captured prisoners, and drove off the others. The North Sea battle honour understates the sustained danger of this coastal escort work.
