HMS Heroine and the name's long Royal Navy service

The name HMS Heroine passed from 18th-century fifth rates to a packet brig and a composite screw corvette.

Notes

The expedition's HMS Heroine was a 32-gun fifth rate launched in 1783. The name was later given to the former HMS Venus, a 36-gun ship launched in 1758, reduced to 32 guns in 1792, and renamed in 1809 before entering harbour service in 1817. Later namesakes included an eight-gun packet brig launched in 1841 and a Satellite-class composite screw corvette that served from 1881 until its sale in 1902. The sequence traces one Royal Navy name across different ship types and propulsion eras.
