Havelock followed Abercrombie to the Dardanelles but left the Eastern Mediterranean in January 1916. It then became a Lowestoft guardship, carried out local duties through the end of the war, and used its guns against targets when required. Its later administrative history is unusually murky. The ship was nominally sold for breaking and disarmed in 1921, yet records indicate that it remained crewed, moved, and held in reserve without a clearly documented role. Havelock was finally resold to Ward's Preston yard in 1927 after several years in this institutional limbo.
