HMS Glasgow and the destruction of von Spee's squadron

Glasgow survived Coronel, fought at the Falklands, and helped corner Dresden, making her a recurring opponent of von Spee's squadron.

Notes

Built by Fairfield, HMS Glasgow participated in Coronel, the Falkland Islands, and the Battle of Más a Tierra, where the final pursuit of SMS Dresden ended. Her career connects the defeat of Cradock's squadron with the destruction of von Spee's force. When Wilhelm Canaris asserted Chilean neutrality, Glasgow's captain left the dispute to diplomats and demanded surrender, after which Dresden was scuttled. British sailors also rescued a pig from the sinking ship, named it Tirpitz, and kept it as a Royal Navy mascot.
