Furious contributed to the British carrier campaign against Tirpitz through Operation Tungsten, Operation Mascot, and related strikes. During Mascot on 17 July 1944 she operated with Formidable and Indefatigable in a formation that is often overlooked in accounts of British multi-carrier warfare. Seafires, Hellcats, Barracudas, and Swordfish gave the force a varied mix of fighter, strike, and support capabilities. Furious also took part in the Operation Goodwood series before leaving front-line service. Her presence shows that a First World War hull could remain a practical component of sophisticated fleet-air operations alongside much newer carriers.
