The Eagle name continues ashore through HMS Eaglet, headquarters for the Royal Naval Reserve in Liverpool and the wider Merseyside region. The building also accommodates university naval units, Sea Cadets, and Royal Navy and Royal Marines careers functions. The shore establishment connects the carrier's historic name with the contemporary reserve presence in the city. A commissioned naval name can preserve institutional identity ashore as well as at sea.
