Duke of Edinburgh remains useful at Jutland

After First Cruiser Squadron fragmented, HMS Duke of Edinburgh served Jellicoe as a reporting cruiser and supplied information at important moments of the battle.

Notes

HMS Duke of Edinburgh's survival and continued usefulness contrast with Black Prince's isolation. When Arbuthnot's squadron broke apart, Duke of Edinburgh did not follow the fatal movement down the engaged side. The cruiser temporarily became Jellicoe's personal information-gathering ship at key moments. Her contribution demonstrates the value of preserving a reconnaissance cruiser for communication and situational awareness instead of spending it in an unsuitable capital-ship engagement.
