HMS Cossack carried an injured diplomat to hospital

During the Spanish Civil War, Cossack made a high-speed run from Spain to obtain medical care for an injured British diplomat.

Notes

During the Spanish Civil War, HMS Cossack took on an ambulance role after a British diplomat was injured. The destroyer collected him in Spain and carried him at high speed to the nearest hospital. This was another job normally associated with a cruiser rather than a fleet destroyer. A multi-role ship could handle such unexpected overseas tasks while cruisers served in the South Atlantic or Far East.
