Chapter · 4:32:12-4:35:22

HMS Coreopsis combined rescue work, Greek service, and a film role

Coreopsis rescued hundreds at sea, served with Greece in the Mediterranean, and later portrayed Compass Rose in The Cruel Sea before disposal.

Notes

HMS Coreopsis performed the escort and rescue work for which the class became known, recovering groups of survivors numbering 33 and 169 as well as others. Transferred to Greek service, she operated in the Mediterranean under the name Kriezis. After the war she returned to Britain and played the fictional Compass Rose in the film The Cruel Sea. A later collision with HMS Camperdown preceded her scrapping in 1952, closing an unusually visible service history.
