HMS Clyde was a River-class submarine launched in March 1934. She served throughout the Second World War. Much of that service took place in Scandinavian and Mediterranean waters, but she also attacked Japanese vessels. Her torpedoing of Gneisenau belonged to a wartime career extending well beyond the Norwegian campaign.
