Chatham's later career spans Gallipoli flag duties, mine damage, New Zealand service, and the origin of the Chatham Cup.

Notes

The cruiser served as a flagship during the Suvla Bay landing and the evacuation from Suvla and Anzac Cove. A mine off Norfolk forced repairs in 1916 before Chatham entered reserve near the war's end. Postwar attachment to the New Zealand Division linked the ship to local maritime history, including a search for the missing steamer Castonia. Her crew also donated the trophy that became New Zealand football's Chatham Cup.
