HMS Bramble was a small minesweeper escorting a convoy when German forces attacked. Her fate echoed HMS Glowworm's: Admiral Hipper was called upon against both much smaller British ships. Bramble's single four-inch gun could not make the contest equal, yet she still fought. Her resistance imposed an operational burden on the attackers despite the extreme mismatch.
