The unrealized HMCS Quebec name

Quebec was considered for a transferred Crown Colony cruiser and a planned Canadian nuclear submarine but did not become an active warship name.

Question

Has there ever been an HMCS Quebec?

Short answer

Not as a commissioned major warship, though the name was proposed for a cruiser and a canceled Canada-class nuclear submarine.

Notes

The Crown Colony cruiser Uganda was considered for renaming as Quebec after transfer to Canada, but received another name. Quebec also appeared in the planned name list for the Canada-class nuclear attack submarines. That program envisioned ten boats with an option for twelve before cancellation in 1989. The name therefore belongs to Canadian naval plans and cadet institutions rather than a commissioned major warship.
