Henderson's staff assessments linked Gallipoli and convoys

Reginald Henderson's wartime staff work examined Gallipoli's naval failings and helped underpin the Royal Navy's adoption of convoys.

Notes

Reginald Henderson served on Admiral Jellicoe's Admiralty staff during World War I. One of his assessments helped provide the basis for introducing convoys, while another examined the Royal Navy's failings at Gallipoli. This work gave Henderson deep institutional knowledge of amphibious problems before his later reforms. His role also connects landing-craft development with the Navy's wider use of staff analysis after wartime failure.
