Heavier firepower and fleet contributions

The British simulation win leads from a simple advantage in gun weight to the harder question of what each ship contributes to a fleet.

Notes

The reconstructed Lord Nelson ships win a close simulated fight largely because their guns hit slightly harder. The result is deliberately simplified: extensive design work can still end with whichever ship lands the heavier blows on the day. At fleet scale, combat power depends on which units actually reach the engagement and what each component contributes. A ship that adds little in a surface duel may supply a capability that decides a different kind of attack.
