Where destroyers could stow spare torpedoes

Tie-down points on Haida give a physical clue to reports of destroyers firing more torpedoes than their tube count suggests.

Notes

Some wartime reports describe nominal four-tube ships firing six torpedoes, with time between launches for a reload. Haida's crew told Alex Clarke that tie-down points behind the launchers, alongside the aft superstructure, marked a torpedo store. This visit testimony agrees with unofficial accounts suggesting extra torpedoes were carried in some cases. It does not establish a standard allowance or the load aboard a particular ship on a particular operation.
