A maritime-strike role for Gripen depends on integrating a suitable missile. Possible earlier work with the Norwegian Naval Strike Missile is mentioned as a starting point, although the recollection is tentative. Interest from Gripen operators supplies a reason to investigate that capability. This does not establish that a particular missile was already cleared for operational service.
