Greek service with an Italian prize and British V-class boats

Greece received the captured Italian Perla and British V-class submarines, though late transfers limited their wartime opportunities.

Notes

The captured Italian submarine Perla entered Greek service in 1943, after its earlier attempt to attack the exceptionally fast minelayer HMS Welshman. The crew later claimed that Welshman was moving so quickly that the torpedoes could not catch it. By then Mediterranean target opportunities were declining, while British V-class transfers also arrived too late for some boats to build extensive records. The date and theater of a transfer could matter as much as the submarine's technical quality.
