Göteborg corvettes and the Gävle refit

Göteborg-class corvettes combined compact sea-denial armament with a refit program for Gävle and Sundsvall; the other pair was mothballed.

Notes

The Göteborg class concentrated sea-denial weapons in small hulls after Sweden retired its destroyers. The fit included anti-submarine mortars, Bofors guns, torpedoes or anti-ship missiles, and the ability to lay mines. Gävle and Sundsvall are identified as the pair retained for modification and upgrading, with recommissioning under the Gävle-class designation. Göteborg and Kalmar are described as decommissioned and mothballed. Keeping those hulls in reserve preserved them beyond their active service, although the discussion gives no reactivation plan.
