The British flagship also exchanged fire with Jacobin as the central melee grew. After Montagne escaped, Howe continued attacking passing French ships, including Jacobin and Républicain. Queen Charlotte then helped force Juste to surrender. Damage and continuing attacks kept the British flagship heavily engaged after the opposing flagship had withdrawn.
