Eleven British and Dominion battlecruisers would provide far more than ceremonial prestige. They create deployable squadrons for presence, commerce protection, cruiser hunting, and raider interception across imperial sea lanes. Australian, New Zealand, and Indian ships could combine with a Royal Navy unit as a standing Far Eastern battlecruiser squadron. Canada could place its flagship at Vancouver because the Home Fleet already covered the North Atlantic, extending capital-ship presence into the Pacific. A South African ship would guard the Cape route and complicate any German commerce-raiding plan that depended on moving around southern Africa.
