A German landing at New York in the 1905 counterfactual

A secure port and allied command of the sea make an improbable German landing at New York logistically sustainable.

Notes

The imagined coalition gives Kaiser Wilhelm II an opportunity to land German troops at New York while the Royal Navy protects the sea route. A functioning New York harbour makes the expedition logistically sustainable in a way that an isolated landing would never be. The operation also defends Canada indirectly because American forces must address the German lodgement instead of concentrating on the northern border. The premise is extravagant, but port capacity and maritime supply still determine whether the overseas army can remain in the field.
