Germany enters an established submarine-ASW race late

German designers face a steeper climb because Allied submarine and escort funding has already accelerated technical development throughout the early 1930s.

Notes

The new treaty category begins a simultaneous race between large submarines and ships intended to defeat them. Britain, the United States, and other treaty navies would fund that work from the start of the 1930s. Germany enters later and must develop boats such as the Type IX against opponents with more mature sensors, escorts, doctrine, and production. The counterfactual therefore helps Allied undersea warfare and ASW more than it helps the late-rearming Kriegsmarine.
