Why General Belgrano remained an operational threat

The British surface force assembled against General Belgrano shows how seriously the cruiser was treated during the Falklands War.

Notes

The improvised British surface action group shows that General Belgrano was regarded as a powerful unit. It included frigates whose gun armament was modest beside the Argentine cruiser, yet they were being gathered and sent toward her. Her temporary heading did not amount to a clear withdrawal because she was skirting the exclusion zone rather than opening the distance from it. British commanders therefore assessed capability, position, and possible intent together instead of treating one plotted course as decisive.
