Game territory rules versus maritime sea control

Germany's capture of South Africa prompts a critique of a campaign result that ignores the Royal Navy's control of the routes between Europe and the colony.

Notes

The game's territorial outcome clashes with the maritime problem that real forces would have faced. A German fleet reaching and sustaining operations around South Africa while at war with Britain would need to pass or evade British-controlled sea routes and bases. The campaign map can award territory without fully representing that chain of access, escort, supply, and interception. Possession on a map can therefore conceal the sea control and logistical reach needed to hold it.
