A Gallipoli victory and Ottoman withdrawal

A successful Gallipoli operation is imagined to remove the Ottoman Empire from World War I and release the forces fighting it.

Notes

The assessment is that the naval attack came close, but that no commander would accept the losses required to continue with the ships as prepared. That tension between a promising strategic objective and unacceptable risk makes Gallipoli a frustrating counterfactual. A successful operation is imagined to bring the Ottoman Empire out of World War I. That would free the forces committed against it for service elsewhere.
